A lot of videos nowadays are used as a too for advertisement, most of the time this would be advertising a band or artist however it is not unusual for a 'music video' to be advertising a brand or campaign. This BODYPOP music video is an example. BODYPOP is a new fitness clothing brand created by online fitness guru Cassey Ho. The complete focus of the video is about sport and features 3 different athletes showing off their area of sport and there is no sign of a singer at all. It however does feature Cassey at the beginning and end which means it does still link in with the creator as such, just not the creator or singer of the song.
Other ways of using music videos as a tool for advertisement would be through product placement. This means the artist gets paid to show a product in one of their videos in order to advertise it. This is becoming vastly popular in videos over the last few years.
